Obituary of Dezerrae Marie Winchell

ROME . . . Dezerrae Marie Winchell, 38, of 801 West Chestnut Street, Rome, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Rome Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was born on November 12, 1986, in Oneida, the daughter of Scott Sr., and Donna (Buyea) Winchell. Dezerrae spent her early years in Oneida and Canastota, attending the Oneida schools. She has lived in Rome most of her life, graduating from Rome Free Academy. She loved music, and spending time with her family. Surviving are: her father, Scott B. Winchell of Canastota; one sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Warren Skellham of Oneida; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Scott Winchell, Jr. of Canastota, Paul Mathews of Corpus Christi, TX, Harold and Stephanie Winchell of Utica, and Kyle Eldridge of Oneida; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Marsha Madore of the Vernon United Methodist Church will officiate.
