Carol A. "Cricket" Cerio, 79, of 5626 Mitchell Road, Verona, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Oneida Healthcare, following a brief illness.
She was born on October 29, 1945, in Fulton, the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Norris) Bahner.
Carol spent her early years in Fulton and Oswego, graduating from Oswego High School in 1973. She later graduated from Auburn Community College and Oswego State Teacher's College. Carol has lived in Verona for the last 33 years.
She was a substitute teacher in the Oswego and Fulton area for several years. Carol later worked for Command Bearing in Syracuse, STS Trucking in Syracuse, and retired from KJ Electric Company in Syracuse in 2013, after working there for many years. She taught crafts at the Jo-Ann Fabrics store in New Hartford for many years.
Carol was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota.
She enjoyed crafting, fishing, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Carol married James L. Cerio on December 24, 1993, in Verona.
Surviving besides her husband, Jim, are: one daughter, Amy Bolton; one brother, Barry Bahner of Vermont; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carol was predeceased by one brother, Frank Bahner.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the funeral home. The Rev. James Buttner will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota.
