Dorothy L. Thompson, 87, of Chittenango, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Crouse Community Center, Morrisville.
She was born on March 7, 1938, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Dennis and Laura (Chapin) Simmons.
Dorothy spent her early years in Georgetown, graduating from Georgetown High School. She later lived in Ellenville and Canastota, living in Chittenango most of her life.
She retired from Magnavox in Manlius, after working there for many years.
Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, taking care of others, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are: two daughters, Laura and Timothy Shetler, Sr. of Chittenango, and Deborah and David Fox, Sr. of Chittenango; three grandchildren, Dennis Shetler, Timothy, Jr. and Jennifer Shetler, and David, Jr. and Jesica Fox; twelve great grandchildren, Krissy, Rachel, Jonathan, Jacob, Nicholas, Kennedy, Jessie, Kelab, Eternity, MaKenna, Riley, and Raelyn; one great great granddaughter, Rosa Mae; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by one grandson, Jeffrey Shetler; one brother, Dennis Simmons; and three sisters, Wilda Georgia, Olive Massa, and Shirley Denoski.
At Dorothy's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
