Grace J. “Julie” Arnold, 75, of Canastota, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on March 26, 1950, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Clarence Bergel and Louise Edna (Towne) Thompson.
Julie was raised and educated in Syracuse. Mrs. Arnold held a position at Waverly Health Center in Waverly, IA. At one time she was wed to Doug Ruetsch.
Julie was an avid Crafter, she enjoyed, beading, crocheting, and playing World of War Craft.
On May 18, 2001, Julie married Peter J. Arnold in Waverly, Iowa. The couple shared in a union of over 23 years. Julie was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Canastota, and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her beloved husband; Peter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles D. Ruetsch, II of West Monroe, and Douglas E. and Nancy Ruetsch of Phoenix, NY; a granddaughter, Sara Ruetsch; a step son, Jeremy Arnold and his fiancée, Amanda Chapple of Oneida; two step daughters, Sonya and her companion, Adam both of Buffalo, and Sarah Arnold of Syracuse; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Charles “Chuck” Whitney, Jr. of TX; and his mother-in-law, Judith Williamson of Canastota. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and in-laws, Saundra and Duane Ryherd, and Patricia and Ken Denney.
In keeping with Mrs. Arnold’s wishes there will be no public services.
