CAZENOVIA . . .
Benjamin J. Carmon, 67, of 4185 Bennett Road, Cazenovia, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 30, 1957, in Oneida, the son of the late Alvin Sr. and Nina (Waldron) Carmon.
Ben spent his early years in Wampsville, graduating from Oneida High School in 1975. He later attended Herkimer County Community College. Ben has lived in Cazenovia most of his life.
He worked for the Laborers Union Local # 35 in Utica for thirty-five years, retiring in 2009. He later worked as a corrections officer for the Madison County Sherriff's Department for eleven years, retiring in 2020.
Ben was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, snowmobiling, and trap shooting. He could be found enjoying his morning coffee and scratch offs with his friends and beloved dog, Gus. You could count on him to show up with a "box of beer" and was well known for his stories and infectious laugh. He enjoyed attending Karalynne's sporting events, where he was so proud of her accomplishments. Ben could also be found cheering on Justin, McKenzie, and Lucas, who he loved like his own. He especially cherished his weekend breakfasts with Rosebud.
He married Judith A. VanDyke on September 9, 1978, in Oneida.
Surviving besides his wife, Judy, are: one son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin R. and Bridgette Carmon of Cazenovia; one daughter, Katie Carmon of Stockbridge; two granddaughters, Karalynne Carmon, and Rosemary Carmon; one sister, Christine Carmon of Munnsville; as well as one niece, two nephews, cousins, and bonus kids, Steven Lamunion, Kevin (Darlene) Neff, and Jessica (Mark) Bradbury.
