Obituary of Lorinda C. VanValkenburgh

CANASTOTA . . . Lorinda C. VanValkenburgh, 68, of 224 E. Hickory Street, Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Albany Medical Center Hospital, following a lengthy series of health issues. She was born on August 19, 1956, in Cooperstown, the daughter of the late Harry and Marie (Bradley) VanValkenburgh. Lorinda lived in Canastota, graduating from Canastota High School in 1974. She worked for MONY Life Insurance Company in Syracuse for 37 years, retiring in 2011. Lorinda was an avid animal lover, including her cats, dogs, and rabbits. Surviving are: many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lorinda was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard VanValkenburgh, and Edward VanValkenburgh; two sisters, Edna Ducey, and Cathy VanValkenburgh; four half-brothers, Donald VanValkenburgh, Kenneth VanValkenburgh, Harry VanValkenburgh, Jr., and K.C. Bradley; and one half-sister, Pearl Twiss. At Lorinda's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
