Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ONEIDA . . . Gary L. Cole, 72, of Oneida, passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, June 8, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Buffalo on May 7th, 1953, he was the son of Frank and Janet (Menzer) Musacchio. Gary was a graduate of Canastota High School, Class of 1971. He went on to graduate from Morrisville College. On July 15, 1978, he married the love of his life, Linda R. McLain whom he met in 4th grade, and he knew then she was his soulmate. Together, they shared nearly 47 years of building a wonderful life. Prior to his retirement in 2019, Gary served many municipalities as a Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator and Chemist in several facilities. Throughout the years, he was a true Buffalo Bills fan, liked to build and fly model airplanes, involved in bowling leagues, was a bird hobbyist, was known for his green thumb and loved to garden, and a jack-of-all-trades. Gary enjoyed playing the guitar, often while his wife sang beside him, sometimes for church, but always for fun. Gary was always ready to help a neighbor, a friend or a family member in need anytime. Gary was not only a doting husband, but a proud and loving father to his children and the best "Poppy" to 11 grandchildren. He was also survived by his mother, Janet Hilts. Gary may have been the hardest and most dedicated worker you would ever meet, but he ultimately lived for his family, his legacy. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. To honor the beautiful life of Gary L. Cole, contributions can be made in his honor to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
