PETERBORO . . .

Gorden B. "Butch" Jeffris, 83, of Peterboro, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Oneida Healthcare, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on September 16, 1941, in Oneida, the son of the late Leonard G. and Dorothy (Holliday) Jeffris.

Butch spent his early years in Augusta and Canastota, attending the Madison and Canastota schools. He later lived in Jacksonville, FL, for thirty years, moving to Peterboro in 1998.

He worked as a mechanic for Transamerica Trailer Repair in Jacksonville, FL, for more than twenty years, and later for J. B. Hunt in Baldwinsville for ten years.

Butch enjoyed old cars and tractors, area Cruise-ins, and spending time with his family.

He married Suzanne M. Rinaldi on November 14, 1964, in Canastota. He later married Helen F. Watts on April 14, 1984, in Jacksonville, FL. Helen passed away on January 19, 2012.

Surviving are: one son, Steven Jeffris of Peterboro; two daughters, Dawn Belcher of Ocean Springs, MS, and Nancy Jeffris of Whitestown; two brothers, Hugh Jeffris of Mobile, AL, and Joseph Jeffris of Oneida; one sister, Marcia Evans of Pulaski; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Butch was predeceased four brothers, Jay Jeffris, Lyle Jeffris, Walter Jeffris, and Dale Jeffris; and two sisters, Charlene Steele, and Barbara Stanton.

Gorden's body was donated to SUNY Upstate Medical University's Anatomical Gift Program, according to his wishes.

A Celebration of his Life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Peterboro Community Center, 5255 Pleasant Valley Road, Peterboro, NY.
