Vaughn Hatch, Sr., 76, of 3183 Whitelaw Road, Canastota, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Crouse Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 29, 1949, in Oneida, the son of Paul A. and Ethel (Bowman) Hatch.
Vaughn lived in Whitelaw all of his entire life. He was a 1968 graduate of Canastota High School.
He owned and operated a dairy farm in Whitelaw for many years. He later worked for United Technologies Corporation in Syracuse for 15 years, retiring in 2006.
Vaughn was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Canastota.
He enjoyed woodworking, making wooden canes, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Vaughn married Mary L. McNally on November 1, 1975, in Whitelaw. They would have celebrated fifty years of marriage this year.
Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are: three sons; Robert and Veronica Hatch of Chittenango, John Hatch of Whitelaw, and Steven, Sr. and Anna Hatch of Canastota; two brothers, William, Sr. and Sandra Hatch of Whitelaw, and Paul E. and Ellen Hatch of Florida; one sister, Debra Miller of Fenner; three grandchildren, Steven Hatch, Jr., Andrew Hatch, and Payton Hatch; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vaughn was predeceased by a son, Vaughn Hatch, Jr.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Mark S. Wilson, of Grace Bible Fellowship, will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery.
