CANASTOTA . . .

Peter A. "Pete" Sorbello, 80, of 7113 New Yorker Avenue, Canastota, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at The Abraham House, Rome, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on November 15, 1944, in Canastota, the son of the late Anthony "Bing" and Josephine (DeMauro) Sorbello.

Pete lived in Canastota all of his life, attending the Canastota schools.

He worked for Chrysler / New Venture Gear in Syracuse for thirty years, retiring in 2001.

Pete was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota.

He loved woodworking, gardening, playing the drums, music, dancing, and spending time with his family.

Peter married Suzanne L. "Sue" Flinn on July 3, 1964, in Minoa. Sue passed away on December 25, 2007.

Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Anthony and Lynn Sorbello of Canastota; one daughter, Melissa Ackerman of Canastota; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Paul Sorbello of Baldwinsville, and John and Paula Sorbello of Canastota; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Armand DiScenna of Kirkville; three grandchildren, Gabriel J. Sorbello, Giddeon Sorbello, and Brendon Peter Ackerman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peter was predeceased by one sister and brother-in-law, Carol Ann and Tarzy Parolin; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Karen Sorbello, Barbara Tretch, and Patrick Flinn.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Agatha's Church, 329 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota. The Rev. Joseph Ryan will officiate. Interment will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota.
