CHITTENANGO . . .

Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Ellis, 64, of 2261 New Boston Road, Chittenango, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Oneida Health, following a brief illness.

She was born on February 10, 1961, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Boyd and Jeanne (Pudney) Ellis.

Beth has lived in Chittenango all of her life, graduating from Chittenango High School in 1979, and later attended Onondaga County Community College.

She served as the comptroller for the Town of Sullivan for thirty-three years, retiring in 2024.

Beth enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, baking, organizing family events, taking in orphaned animals (Whitey & Calico), and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Lucy, who was the joy of her life.

Beth married the love of her life, Philip W. Costanzo, on December 7, 1996, in Chittenango. They have been together for forty-two years.

Surviving besides her husband, Philip, are: two sons, Dan Smith of Buffalo, and Sam and Amanda Costanzo of Sangerfield; two brothers, Michael Ellis of Oneida, and Mark Ellis of Cicero; a special brother-in-law, Steven J. Costanzo of Chittenango; five sisters, Suzanne and Gary Craft of Westmoreland, Cathy and Gary Hotaling of Mexico, NY, Stephanie and Gary Wheaton of Jeffersonville, Jo Ann and Dan Nash of Chittenango, and Patricia Ellis of Bridgeport; one granddaughter, Lucy Joan Costanzo; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private service was held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Mick Keville, Pastor of Crossroads Community Church, Chittenango, officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chittenango. There were no calling hours. Arrangements were under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
