MUNNSVILLE . . .

Jessica L. Layton, 39, of Munnsville, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, after a brief illness at Oneida Healthcare.

Jessica was born to Cathy and David Layton on June 29, 1986, in Schenectady. She grew up in the Saratoga Springs area and attended the Saratoga Springs and Schuylerville schools. Jessica later pursued a career in Nursing, graduating from Albany Memorial with her R.N., and then from SUNY Upstate Medical University with her Bachelor's in Nursing. She was currently pursuing her Master's degree in Nurse Practitioner.

Throughout her life, Jessica was known for living life to the fullest and for her strong dedication to helping others. She enjoyed poetry, beach time, fishing, and painting, and was always happiest when with her family.

Jessica worked for many healthcare services in both the Albany and Syracuse regions, serving as a C.N.A., Nurse, Assistant Director of Nursing, and finally Director of Nursing. She was respected for her passion for promoting the best possible patient care for each one of her patients. Outside of work, she was deeply involved in her community, organizing poetry events, coat drives for the youth, and preparing meals for the homeless, in addition to protecting her community as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT.

Jessica is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Tallman, Jr.; her three daughters, Kyleigh, Veronica, and Ember; her faithful companion Miley; her grandmother, Linda Martinez; her parents, Cathy and David Layton; her sisters, Sarah and Crystal (Adam) Layton; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lynda (Robert) Dimick and Ronald (Sue) Tallman, Sr.; her uncle, Ron (Pam) Martinez; her aunt Kelly (Harold) Olsmit; her brother-in-law, Randy Tallman; her nieces, Lily, Sofia, Bella, and Delilah; and her nephews, Adam, Ayden, and Matthew. She was met in heaven by her beloved grandfather, Ronald "Poppy" Martinez.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota, NY. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday following the calling hours. Pastor Jeff Rogers of Christ Community Church of the Nazarene, Camillus, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jessica's memory to the Rose Garden Restoration Committee, PO Box 3814, Schenectady, NY 12303, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
