CANASTOTA . . .

Sandra J. "Sandy" Whaley, 73, of 511 State Street, Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.

She was born on February 14, 1952, in Edwards, NY, the daughter of the late Weldon and Ruth (Sloan) Burnett.

Sandy spent her early years in Northern New York, attending the Mexico schools, later moving to Canastota in 1980.

She worked for various people in the area as a housekeeper and providing home health care.

Sandy enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending church, and spending time with her dogs.

Surviving are: her companion of thirty-six years, Robert J. Musacchio; three sons, Lyle (Anne) Dambra of Rochester, Alan Whaley of Canastota, and John Whaley of Oneida; two brothers, Sonny (Sally) Burnett, and Lyle Burnett; one sister, Charlotte (Peet) Burnett; nine grandchildren, Jacob Dambra, Wyatt Dambra, Satchel Dambra, Marlee Dambra, Josh Whaley, Jillian (Whaley) Millman, Brayden Whaley, Sean Whaley, and Trey Whaley; one great granddaughter, Isla Millman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sandy was predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred Taylor, and Donald Burnett; and three sisters, Hazel Bassett, Harriet Martin, and Hilda Facey.

At Sandy's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A Celebration of her life will be held a later date to be determined. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
