Ellen E. "Betty" Markle, 92, of 3882 Crandall Road, Canastota (Clockville), passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026.



She was born on February 22, 1934, in Cazenovia, the daughter of the late Paul and Hazel (Lombard) Emmons.



Ellen lived in Clockville most of her life, graduating from Cazenovia High School in 1952.




She worked for General Electric in Syracuse for many years, retiring in 1994.



Ellen had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.



She was of the Baptist faith.



Ellen married Carl R. Markle on June 25, 1953, in Cazenovia. Carl passed away on November 21, 1995.



Surviving are: two sons, Stephen and Tami Markle, and Carl and Jeannie Markle, all of Canastota; two daughters, Theresa Mills, and Anna and David Kimball, all of Canastota; four brothers, Edward Emmons of Fayetteville, Albert Emmons of Cazenovia, Ralph and Sherrie Emmons of Hyde Park, and Wayne and Laura Emmons of Cazenovia; three sisters, Esther and Richard Weber of Endicott, Hazel and Al Curtis of Chittenango, and Lois McCarthy of Manlius; eight grandchildren, John Markle, Danny Mills, Cory Mills, Stephen Markle, Jessica Johnson, Sarah Markle, Kate Pagano, and Paige Quick; ten great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ellen was predeceased by one son, Mark Markle; and two brothers, Paul Emmons, and Clifford Emmons.



At Ellen's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A Celebration of her life will be held at a place, date, and time to be announced. Interment will be in Clockville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
