CANASTOTA . . .
Allan H. Glines, 88, of Canastota, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at The Grand in Chittenango, following a lengthy illness, with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on October 6, 1937, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Ernest and Flora (Aldred ) Glines.
Allan spent his early years in Manchester, moving to Seattle, WA, and graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle. He moved back to the Manchester area, where he lived for many years, and has lived in Canastota since 2014.
He was very patriotic, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps. Allan achieved the rank of Master Sergent. His last duty station was at Camp Pendelton, CA, where he repaired and tested helicopters and trained others to repair them.
Allan owned and operated Acceleration Plus Auto Parts in Gilmanton, NH for many years. He previously owned an auto repair shop, built race car engines, and did engine testing for Ford Motor Company. Allan was a member of the NHRA for many years, and had a love affair with the automobile, especially Fords. He competed in drag racing all over the United States. At one time, Allan was the Technical Director for the New England Dragway in Epping, NH.
He was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Canastota.
Allan enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends, and although he didn't talk much, he was a good listener taking in everything going on around him.
He married the love of his life, Evelyn Stone, on May 6, 2001, in Concord, NH. They shared twenty-five wonderful years of marriage.
Surviving besides his wife, Evelyn, are: one son, Christopher (Cynthia) Glines of Prescott Valley, AZ; three "bonus" daughters, Lynn-Ann (Michael) Parsons of Hatfield, MA, Karen (James) MacDonald Gagnon of Manchester, NH, and Donna (Dominick) Perretta of Canastota; four grandchildren, Robert (Jennifer Pino) Glines, Josiah Parsons, Benjamin (Marie) Parsons, and Johnathan Whitbeck; one great grandson, Kit Parsons; as well as many nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
Calling hours will be held from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home. Pastor Gene Dayton of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, Canastota, will officiate. Burial will be in East Winthrop Cemetery, ME, at the convenience of the family.
