HERNANDO BEACH, FL . . .

Janice “Jan” Gerbig, passed away on October 22, 2025, and was born on August 16, 1940, in the Town of Fenner. Harold “Hal” Hemmerling, passed away on October 25, 2023, and was born on July 30, 1940, in Springville, NY. They were introduced later in life, and loved bloomed late, but love bloomed strong; they were truly soulmates. They lived a diverse life filled with love, service, and creativity.

Surviving are: her son, Donald Pafka of Canastota; her daughter, Heather and Chris Steinle of Hernando, FL; his son, Andrew and Michelle Hemmerling of Enfield, NH, and David Hemmerling of Frye Island, ME; his daughters, Lisa Golding of Lebanon, NH, and Julie and Luke Waugh of Enfield, NH; grandchildren, Rose Reynolds and Keith Upham of Lyndonville, VT, Andy Steinle and fiancé, Anna Chen of Denver, CO, Rebecca and Michael Brown of Ballston Spa, NY, Liam Hemmerling of Worcester, MA, Connor Hemmerling, and Aidan Hemmerling, both of Enfield, NH; great grandchildren, Hazel Upham, and Ivy Upham, both of Lyndonville, VT, and Kim Guerra of Denver, CO. Jan was predeceased by a son, William “Bill” Pafka; one brother, William “Bill” Gerbig; and one sister, Joyce Harvey.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday July 18, 2026, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Interment will be in Peterboro Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
