Oneida, NY . . .

Betsey (Dean) Sanderson, 83, of Oneida, NY and native of Palmer, MA, passed away, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

She was born on February 27, 1943, in Palmer, MA. Betsey was the daughter of the late Gordon R. and Virginia (Flynt) Dean.

Betsey graduated in 1960 from Palmer High School in Palmer, MA; she continued her education at Northampton College in MA and graduated in 1962 with an associate degree. At one time she had been wed to the late Richard A. Sanderson Sr. She was employed as a Securities Trader for a total of twenty-five years at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and Aetna Insurance Company. After retiring from Aetna Betsey was employed as a Real Estate Agent with Ferrigno Real Estate in Storrs, CT., Kathy John’s Restaurant also in Storrs, CT., and lastly, she worked for Companions & Homemakers retiring in her late 70’s.

Her interests included landscaping, Boston sports, especially the Boston Bruins, and Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed watching HGTV, Maine Cabin Masters, and most importantly keeping in touch with her family.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Timothy Kilts; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Jr. and Katie Sanderson all of Canastota; five grandchildren, Michael Ulrick of CT., Elizabeth Ulrick of TX., Gregory Ulrick of CT., Ethan Sanderson, and Ryan Sanderson both of Canastota; and a sister, Thirsa Dean of Oneida. She is also survived by several cousins, including her favorite cousins, Nan and Gretchen; and her long-time hockey buddy and friend Steve Coates.

In keeping with Betsey’s wishes there will be no public services. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Palmer, MA.
