CANASTOTA . . . Carol J. Weimer, 91, of 146 Center Street, Canastota, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019, at The Grand of Rome, following a lengthy illness. She was born on December 24, 1927, in Canastota, the daughter of the late Carl and Nellie (Gerber) Weimer. Carol has lived in Canastota all of her life, attending the Canastota schools. She was a member of the United Church of Canastota, and was a Historian for the Town of Lenox. Carol was a secretary and columnist for the Canastota Publishing Company and a columnist for the Oneida Dispatch for 72 years. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, gardening, cooking, canning, reading, and going to church. Surviving are: her nieces and nephews, Nancy and Joseph Starosciak of Huntersville, NC, Thomas Pilcher of Canastota and his companion, Paula Karr, of Torrance, CA, Lawrence Pilcher of Pompey, and Julie and David Cronk of Mannsville; seven great nieces; two great nephews; and several cousins. Carol was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Ava and Jesse Pilcher; and a niece, Kim Pilcher. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Pastor Ken Guilfoyle of the United Church of Canastota will officiate. Spring burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. At Carol's request, there will be no calling hours. In her memory, contributions may be made to the United Church of Canastota, 144 Center Street, Canastota, NY 13032, or to the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, Inc., (GLAS), PO Box 382, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
