CANASTOTA . . . Bethel A. "Beth" Field, 76, of N. Ft. Myers, FL, and formerly of Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at HealthPark Medical Center, Ft. Myers, FL. She was born on July 21, 1944, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Ralph and Arlene (Hotchkiss) Allen. Beth spent her early years in Syracuse, graduating from Central Technological High School in 1961. In 1976, she graduated from the Oneida Madison BOCES LPN Program. Beth lived in Canastota most of her life, later splitting time between Byron, NY, and Florida. She was a school bus driver for Canastota Central School from 1969-1977, and after becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse, she was a phlebotomist for the American Red Cross in Syracuse for 25 years, retiring in 2006. Beth was a Charter Member of Greater Lenox Ambulance Service and was a volunteer for 10 years. She had a lifelong love of the Adirondacks, which she shared with her daughter, and enjoyed hiking, camping, and traveling, but most of all she liked goofing off with her kid. Surviving are: one daughter, Kimberly A. Field of Munnsville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ralph Allen of Houston, TX, and William and JoEtta Allen of Niceville, FL; as well as three nieces and three nephews. Beth was predeceased by one sister, Elaine Allen; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Allen. At Beth's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service (GLAS), PO Box 382, Canastota, NY 13032, or to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032.
