Richard L. “Skip” Curtis, 74, of Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Health Care Center, in New Hartford. He was born on May 6, 1947, in Oneida, NY, the son of the late Richard “Dick” and Katherine “Kay” (Whitford) Curtis. Richard was raised and educated locally, and attended Canastota High School. Skip held a position with the Nestle Waters Company in Rochester, NY. On October 23, 1998, he married Sharon L. Backus. He enjoyed researching family history, telling jokes, and spending time with his family. Surviving besides his wife, Sharon, are: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chad (Melissa) Curtis of SC, and Derek Curtis of Oneida; a daughter and a son-in-law, Sarah (Tommy) Feola of Oneida; beloved nieces and nephews, Daniel Cerio and his companion, Sharon Giaquinto of Oneida, Christine (Greg) Mahar of TX, Shelly Cerio of California, Timothy Cerio and his companion, Amy Abel of Kirkville, and Patrick (Brooke) Dailey of Long Island; a special daughter-in-law, Lori Barbano - Curtis of Oneida; mother of his children, Sheila Mundo of Oneida; five grandchildren, Alexis (Chase) Ferguson, Brayden Curtis, Gavin Curtis, Trey Feola, and Mila Feola. He is also survived by many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews; a brother, Kevin Curtis of Canastota; and a sister and brother-in-law, Kim (Archie) Morrison of Florida; and several in-laws. In keeping with Skip’s wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Valley View Cemetery, Oneida. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
