Obituary of Leon G. “Bunky” Kentner

CANASTOTA, NY
Leon G. “Bunky” Kentner, 92, of Canastota, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
He was born on July 7, 1929 in Canastota, a son of the late Leon J. and Viola (Beach) Kentner. Leon attended Canastota Central Schools.
On August 16, 1953, in Canastota, he married the former, Betty L. Walters. The couple shared a union blessed with over 46 years of marriage prior to Mrs. Kentner’s passing on October 19, 1999.
Mr. Kentner drove delivery truck for H. W. Clark Biscuit Company delivering Dane-T Bits cookies and snacks; this is where he met his future wife. He than drove bus for Central NY Coach Lines. He also held a position with Madison County Highway Department where he was a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Kentner retired from the Town of Lenox where he was the Highway Superintendent for several years.
Among his many interests were golf, hunting, fishing, billiards, and playing cards with his friends.
Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Leon N. and Sheryl Kentner of Pottstown, PA; and two grandchildren, Victoria “Tori” Kentner and Jonathan Kentner. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Susan Kentner, Arlene North, Pauline Flagler, and Annie Berube.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, 201 James Street, Canastota. Burial will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
