Obituary of Mary Jean (Conley) McCormick

ONEIDA . . . Mary Jean (Conley) McCormick, 79, of Oneida, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Oneida Healthcare, with her family by her side following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 18, 1942, in Canastota, a daughter of the late Thomas and Daisy (Candee) Conley. Mary spent her early years in Canastota, attending the Canastota schools. She later graduated from the Utica School of Commerce in Canastota with an Associate's Degree in Business. Mary had lived at the Oneida Towers for several years before becoming a resident of the Oneida Extended Care. She was a member of the Towers Tenant Association, Oneida Housing Authority Board, Munnsville American Legion Post # 54 Auxiliary, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Oneida Recreation Lanes Powder Puff League. Mary enjoyed bowling, Bingo, listening to Matt Chase and Thunder Canyon, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are: two sons, James Jones Jr. and Jane Whipple of Cazenovia, and Thomas Jones of Union, SC; six daughters, Jeanne and Steve Niles of Canastota, Brenda and Melvin Frost of Oneida, Bonnie and Michael Dwyer of Canastota, Sherri Jones of Hamilton, Colleen and Otto Winchell Jr. of Canastota, and Kristine McCormick of Canastota; twenty-two grandchildren, Nicole Durant, Dallis Durant, Steven Niles, Jr., Amy Cullen, Shawn Frost, Samantha Kimpel, Brandon Kimpel, Monica Jones, James "JT" Jones, Matthew Clark, Heather Clark, Aaron Jones, Cody Logan, MiKayla Jones, Daymeon Jones, Mala McCormick, Lucas McCormick, Corey Rowley, Kevin Jones, Anthony Cruz, Kaitlyn Winchell, and Kayden Winchell; Thirty-two great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special nephew, Rollin Case. Mary was predeceased by four brothers, Charlie, Donald, William and Thomas Conley; and one sister, Joyce Case. Mary's family would like to thank Dr. Jim Vanderhoff, the 4th Floor Nursing Staff, and Dequan, Brian, and Amy at the ECF. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Burch of Grace Lutheran Church, Canastota, will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Oneida Healthcare ECF Activities Department, 323 Genesee Street, Oneida, NY 13421, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
