CANASTOTA . . . Dolores Chamberlin, 66, of 6737 Oxbow Road, Canastota, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness. She was born on June 11, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Alvie and Darlene (Hatfield) Medlin. Dolores spent her early years in Nebraska and San Jose, California, graduating from High School in California. She later attended Community College in California, and has lived in Silver City, Nevada; Tracy, California; Gouverneur, NY; Mattydale; and in Canastota for the last 31 years. She was a hard worker, and held various jobs including being a home health aide, a baker at P&C in Canastota, and a housekeeper at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Chittenango, and at Oneida Healthcare. Dolores was a member of New Beginnings Community Church in Wampsville, and a critical member of the prayer team. She enjoyed gardening, interior decorating, cooking, baking, cleaning, and spending time with her family. Dolores first married Clarence Gerald "Jerry" Murdie in 1975. Jerry passed away on June 16, 1982. She later married Lawrence E. Chamberlin on June 18, 1988, in Gouverneur, NY. Surviving besides her husband, Lawrence, are: one son, Jeremiah Murdie and Susan June of Chittenango; two daughters, Darlene Greene of Madison, and Mary and Mark Bates of Gouverneur; six grandchildren, Austin Murdie, Micheal June, Dakota Greene, Maximilian Murdie, Ethan Murdie, and Hunter Bates; six brothers, Billy Medlin, David Medlin, Joey Alvarez, Kevin Scott, John McClure, and Steve McClure; three sisters, Donna Dunlap, Christina Osban, and Melody Lamond; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dolores was predeceased by a grandson, Zachary Greene. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at New Beginnings Community Church, 227 Genesee Street, Wampsville. Pastor John Heinike will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. In Dolores' memory, contributions may be made to New Beginnings Community Church, PO Box 30, Wampsville, NY 13163, with envelopes available at the funeral home and church.
