CANASTOTA . . .
Debra J. Johnson, 64, of 206 Kay Circle, Canastota, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
Born on June 24, 1957, to the late Dominick and Joan (Ausman) Mariano.
Debra lived in Canastota all of her life. Dedicated to her job and family, she worked for the Canastota Central School District.
Debra enjoyed her garden, and spending time with her family. Additionally, Debra was an extraordinary friend to animals caring for the feral cats of any neighborhood she lived in. Those who knew Debra will miss her spicy personality, signature hairstyle, beautiful smile and infectious laughter.
Debra was predeceased by her parents, grandson Maverik, and her loving dog Tippy.
Debra is survived by her children; Stacy (Michael) Rigiero of Cherry Valley, MA, Master Sergeant Christopher Johnson of the United States Air Force serving RAF Croughton, UK, and Michael Prendergast Jr. of Canastota; siblings, Dominick Mariano Jr. of Westborough, MA, Diane Mariano of Worcester, MA, and Dale Mariano of Canastota; grandchildren, Eden and Gia; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
Debra and family want to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Canastota High School, and teams at MVHS St. Luke's Hospital and Acute Inpatient Rehab.
Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota, NY, 13032. A brief service will be held on Tuesday April 12th at 1 p.m. at funeral home. The Rev. Anthony F. Tosti will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota, where Debra will now rest beside her beloved Mother Joan (Ausman) Mariano.
