Obituary of Chester J. Rzeszot

CANASTOTA . . . Chester J. Rzeszot, 70, 9075 Lewis Point Road, Canastota, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his home. He was born on April 3, 1952, in Utica, NY, the son of the late John and Sophie (Jezowski) Rzeszot. Chet spent his early years in Vernon Center and Oneida, graduating from Oneida High School. He has lived in the Canastota area for the last 37 years. He had worked at Mohawk Containers in New Hartford, Diemolding and PMR in Canastota, and for the Oneida Indian Nation in Verona. He had a strong work ethic, which he learned from his parents. Chet enjoyed repairing lawnmowers, small engine repair, tinkering, arts and crafts, and watching baseball, especially the New York Yankees. His CB Radio handle was "Black Cat". He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Dorathy A. Wickham; her grandson, Michael Frazer; her granddaughter, Heather Wickham Marino; and Chet's two brothers, Edward and Charles Rzeszot. Surviving are: one sister, Cathy Rzeszot and her husband, Doug Prosser of Rome; one sister-in-law, Carol Rzeszot of Endicott; nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as Dorathy's family, Heidi A. Wickham of Oneida; Melissa Wickham and George Cassidy, Kenneth Frazer III and Dakota Townsend, Joshua Frazer, and Elvis Frazer and Lexie VanDusen; Selena Frazer, Halley Frazer, Mason Douglas, Hayden Frazer, Hunter Frazer, Ardella Douglas, and Alexcia Douglas; Calling hours will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, follow the calling hours. The Rev. Phillip A. Wright, of the Canastota Baptist Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Hartford. In his memory, contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014, or to the Canastota Baptist Chapel, c/o Rev. Phillip A. Wright, 8829 Karlen Road, Rome, NY 13440, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
