Scott M. James, 51, of 106 Lewis Street, Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse.



He was born on March 8, 1971, in Oneida, the son of the late Milton and Yvonne (Murray) James.



Scott lived in Oneida most of his life, graduating from Oneida High School in 1990. He has lived in Canastota since 2016. He later graduated from MVCC in Rome; received his Security Guard License from BOCES; and earned his Class A CDL License after attending the National Tractor Trailor School in Syracuse.



He was a professional tractor trailer and bus driver. He worked for CNY Bus Sales in Chitttenango, and had previously worked for Bernie Bus Service in Rome, and the ARC in Oneida.



Scott enjoyed painting wooden animals, collecting t-shirts with funny sayings, playing video games with kids, spoiling his granddaughter, and spending time with his family.



He was a member of The Way Ministries (formerly Believer's Chapel) in Canastota.



Scott married Mary M. Link on February 14, 1998, at her parents' home, with Mayor Carinci officiating. The next year they renewed their vows at St. Joseph's Church in Oneida, with Fr. Bill officiating.



Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are their three children: Ashley and Andrew Mather, Justin James, and Kassidy James, all of Canastota; one sister, Kim Brown of West Wyoming, PA; one granddaughter, Yvonne Mather; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.



Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at The Way Ministries Church, 2657 Seneca Turnpike, Canastota. Funeral services be held at 12 Noon, at the church, follow the calling hours. Sr. Pastor Jacob N. Rashford will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota, NY.
