Obituary of Dorothy L. Genther

CANASTOTA . . . Dorothy L. Genther, 98, formerly of Canastota and Morrisville, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the Crouse Community Center, Morrisville, following a brief illness. She was born on April 16, 1920, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Machell) Baisley. Dorothy spent her early years in Brooklyn, graduating from high school there. She later lived in Manlius, Canastota, and Morrisville. In her younger years, she worked as a beautician. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She married Clinton L. Genther on March 23, 1939, in Brooklyn. Clinton passed away on October 17, 1982. Surviving are: one son, Gary Genther of Oneida; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Joan and Rocco Antelmi of Mount Airy, NC, Lois Caldwell of Anaheim, CA, Robyn Genther of Morrisville, and Laura and Timothy Geariety of Crystal Springs, CA; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by a brother, Robert Baisley. At Dorothy's request there will be no calling hours or funeral. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In Dorothy's memory, contributions may be made to Crouse Community Center, Activities Fund, 101 South Street, Morrisville, NY 13408. J.
