RED CREEK . . .
Michael R. Whaley, 72, of 6027 Manley Drive, Red Creek, and formerly of Canastota and Cazenovia, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on February 18, 1951, in Canastota, the son of the late Clifford and Harvlyn Jane (Neadle) Whaley.
Mike spent his early years in Whitelaw, graduating from Canastota High School in 1969. He later lived in the Cazenovia area for many years, and has lived in Red Creek with his sister, Kathleen, for the last six years.
He worked for Production Products in Manlius for many years, retiring in 2015.
Mike loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding and watching birds, and spending time with his family.
Surviving: two sons , Eric Whaley of Clark Mills, and Kyle Whaley of Georgetown; six brothers, Harvey and Diane Whaley of E. Syracuse, Timothy Whaley of Chittenango, Brian and Karen Whaley of E. Palestine, TX, Patrick and Peggy Whaley of Bridgeport, Henry Whaley of Geneva, and Jeffrey Whaley of Canastota; three sisters, Peggy and Butch Relyea of Munnsville, Jane Kroneck of Munnsville, and Kathleen and Richard Huber of Red Creek; one granddaughter, Destiny Whaley; aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the funeral home. Pastor Donna Chapman of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church will officiate.
In his memory, contributions may be made to the Lakeshore Volunteer Ambulance Inc., 5841 New Hartford Street, Wolcott, NY 14590, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
