Patricia M. Beatty, 72, of 7120 Scenic Avenue, Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at University Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness.




She was born on January 3, 1951, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of Donald and Betty (Pecen) Martin.



Pat spent her early years in Sayre, graduating from Sayre High School in 1968. She, later, graduated from Mansfield College in 1972, with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. Pat has lived in Canastota most of her life.




She was an Elementary Music Teacher at Canastota Central School for 34 years, retiring in 2006.




Pat was a member of the Canastota Community Band, Harmony of Harps, Harp and Soul of CNY, and the Canastota Retired Teachers Association. She was a pianist/organist for various area churches.



She married Dale W. Beatty on December 23, 1972, in Sayre, PA.



Surviving besides her husband, Dale, are: one son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Kerri Beatty of Huntington, NY; one daughter and son-in-law, Stancey and Adam Smith of Marcy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jeanne and James Sjoblom of Waverly, NY, and Barbara English of Milton, PA; three grandchildren, William Beatty, Caroline Beatty, and Aubree Smith; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.



A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July, 8, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7248 Highbridge Road, Fayetteville, NY 13066. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the church following the memorial service. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.



In her memory, contributions may be made to the Samaritan Center, Attn: Mary Beth Frey, 215 N. State Street, Syracuse, NY 13203.
