AmberLee Sgarlata-Smith, 37, of 3694 Carter Road, Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at University Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness.
She was born on December 2, 1985, in Syracuse, the daughter of Michael Sgarlata and Cheryl Yolton.
AmberLee has lived in the Canastota area all of her life, graduating from Canastota High School in 2004.
She has worked in healthcare since graduating from high school, and has worked as a private nursing assistant for the last several years.
AmberLee enjoyed attending music concerts. She loved her pets and her family, especially her daughter, Brooklyn.
She married Ty N. Smith on July 3, 2012, in Canastota.
Surviving besides her husband, Ty, are: one daughter, Brooklyn Smith of Canastota; two stepdaughters, Victoria Snyder of N. Carolina, and Reilly Smith of Canastota; her father, Michael Sgarlata of Canastota; her mother, Cheryl Sgarlata and Joel Regis of Canastota; her maternal grandparents, William and Elva Yolton of Canastota; one brother, Jason and Kaitlin Sgarlata of Manlius; two nephews, John Sgarlata and Will Sgarlata; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the funeral home. The Rev. William M. Wilcox will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota.
