Eugene B. “Gene” Beaumont, 86, of Whitelaw passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Oneida Health Care Center Extended Care Facility (ECF) after a long illness.

Born in Englewood, NJ on December 10, 1936 to the late Edmund B. and Caroline N. (Hazelton) Beaumont. Eugene graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, NJ and later attended Indiana State University.

He retired from The Nottingham in Jamesville, NY after many years of loyal service. On May 14, 1966, Gene married his partner of over 57 years, the former Carol J. Szarkowicz in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Gene enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved to walk, tinker with engines, play the drums, and set off fireworks, especially on the Fourth of July. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and good nature.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Lauren Beaumont of Manhattan, and Lynn Beaumont and her partner Bam Lynch both of Albany, NY; two sisters, Carol Whitesell of Kailua, Hawaii, and Natalie Beaumont of Englewood, NJ. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and his in-laws, Edward and Lisa Szarkowicz of Lake Zurich, IL.

Gene’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful caregivers and medical personnel that helped to care for him throughout his illness, especially those on the ECF’s third floor.

In keeping with Gene’s wishes, there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be made to Reading is Fundamental or Musicians on Call, honoring Gene’s love of reading and music.
