CANASTOTA . . .

Margaret A. Link, 82, of Canastota, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Faxton-St. Luke's Health Care (MVHS) in New Hartford, NY.

She was born on December 22, 1940, in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late John W. and Margaret (Wagner) Hennika.

Margaret spent her early years in Cincinnati, attending Cincinnati schools. She later moved to San Antonio, TX, Gulfport, MS, Portsmouth, NH, Perryville, and Oneida for many years. Margaret has lived in Canastota since 2007.

She was employed at W.T. Grant's Department Store in Chittenango for three years. Margaret also worked at Ames Department Store in Chittenango and Oneida for over seven years. She was a childcare provider in her home for many years.

Margaret was a member of The Way Ministries of Canastota.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going fishing with her husband and camping.

Margaret married Charles A. Link on April 23, 1960, in Portsmouth, NH. Charles died on March 12, 2007.

Surviving are: three sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Pamela Link of Vernon, David and Roberta Link of Morrisville, Bruce and Jen "JL" Link of Rochester, and Ellen Link of Canastota; one daughter, Mary James of Canastota; grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Mather, Justin James, Kassidy James, Caylee and Bryan Diskin, Tabitha Link, and John Link; two great grandchildren, Yvonne Mather, and Madelyn Diskin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Link; one son, Michael Link; one grandson, Michael Link, II; one sister, Kathryn Schmidt; one brother, Bill Hennika; and a son-in-law, Scott James.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Way Ministries, 2657 Seneca Turnpike, Canastota, NY. Mrs. Link's memorial service will follow calling hours at the church at 4 p.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
