CANASTOTA

 

Mary Eleanor Orr, 90, formerly of 307 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness.

 

She was born on May 14, 1928 in Canastota, the daughter of the late Antonio and Mildred (DeForge) Patterelli.

 

Mary Eleanor spent most of her life in the Canastota area, graduating from Canastota High School in 1946. She had, also, lived in Penn Yan from 1970 to 1983, and later lived in Syracuse with her daughter, Patricia.

 

She was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota, and its' Altar Rosary Society.

 

Mary Eleanor enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends and neightobers.

 

She married Robert E. Orr on January 3, 1948, in Canastota. Bob died on June 8, 2007.

 

Surviving are: two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Charlyne Orr of Arlington, TX, and Thomas and Donna Orr of Longview, TX; a daughter, Patricia Orr and her partner, Susan Trotta, of Syracuse; two sisters, Joanne Grower of Oneida, and Gloria Houseman of Canastota; a sister-in-law, Elaine Patterelli of Bouckville; four grandchildren, William, Jr., Kristen, Graham, and Nicholas; five great grandchildren, Amber, Amanda, and Daniel Choate, and Avery and Heston Orr; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Eleanor was predeceased by a son, Robert T. Orr; a daughter, Kathleen Orr; three brothers, Michael Patterelli, Frank Patterelli, and Anthony Patterelli; and a sister, Philomena Christenson.

 

Mary Eleanor's family would like to thank Dr. Andre Berg, Barb Barker, Terri Levine, and the C South Staff at Bishop Rehabilitation Center.

 

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018, at St. Agatha's Church, 329 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota, where a funeral mass will be held. The Rev. Stephen P. Wirkes, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Canastota Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 81, Canastota, NY 13032, or Clear Path for Veterans, 1223 Salt Springs Road, Chittenango, NY 13037, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
