Obituary of Josephine Masucci

Josephine S. Masucci, 99, of 112 Third Street, Canastota, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 6, 1919, in the Town of Sullivan, the daughter of the late Nicolo and Elizabeth (Amato) Setticase.
Jo has lived in the Canastota area all of her life, graduating from Canastota High School in 1937, and later graduating from CCBI in Syracuse.
She worked at the former Canastota Savings & Loan, and later as a secretary at the Canastota Central School for many years, retiring in 1974.
Jo was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, making many afghans and quilts, gardening, traveling with family and friends, and more recently visiting with friends over coffee.
Jo was loved by all.
She married Vincent S. Masucci on May 6, 1943, in Canastota. Vincent died on May 29, 2007.
Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Mayra (Guffin) Masucci of Pasadena, CA; one daughter-in-law, Coleen Masucci of Canastota; one sister, Frances "Chic" Giarrosso of Syracuse; five grandchildren, Cara Masucci, Anne Masucci, Christopher Masucci, Timothy Masucci, and Margo Guffin; one great granddaughter, Kaya Masucci; as well as several nieces, including Jeannine Masucci who cared for Jo for many years; nephews; cousins; as well as her loving caregivers. Jo was predeceased by a son, Robert Masucci; three brothers, Joseph Setticase, Vincent Setticase, and Alfonso Setticase; and three sisters, Marianne Spencer, "Tillie" Vecchio, and Margaret DiVeronica.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018, at St. Agatha's Church, 329 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota, where a funeral mass will be held. The Rev. William A. Mesmer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota, with a luncheon to follow at the church center. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Thursday, prior to the mass. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to the St. Agatha's Church, 329 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota, NY 13032, or to the Bereavement Ministry at St. Agatha's Church, with envelopes available at the church.
