Obituary of Dennis C. Grems

Canastota, NY….. Dennis C. Grems, 81, of Canastota, NY, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Oneida Health Care Center. Born in Hamilton, NY on September 23, 1942, to the late Harry and Edith (Jamison) Grems. Dennis graduated from Hamilton High School. Mr. Grems was a Meat Cutter by trade for most of his life. On April 14, 1984, Dennis married his partner of over 40 years, the former Helen D. Virgil. Dennis enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He will be sadly missed by all who know him. He is survived by his wife, Helen; four children, Dennis C., Jr. and his wife, Jennifer Grems, Kevin Grems, Jeff Grems, and Kelly Benack; four stepchildren, who loved him like a dad, and their spouses, Dawn and Pat Smith, Kenneth and Hayde Roth, Michael Roth, and Patricia and Kurt Gassett; and two brothers, Gordon Grems, and Ben Brown. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and his in-laws. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Grems, and Dale Brown. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 11:00a.m-1:00p.m at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc. 201 James Street, Canastota, NY. Mr. Grems’s funeral will take place immediately following calling hours on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
