Obituary of Dan Kolceski

CANASTOTA . . . Daniel R. Kolceski, 61, of Canastota, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at his home. He was born on August 8, 1963, in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Sabene) Kolceski. Dan spent his early years in Solvay, graduating from St. Cecilia's Elementary School, and later Solvay High School in 1981. He also graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in 1986, with a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy. Dan has lived in Canastota for the last 31 years. He has worked as a pharmacist for 30 years, recently retiring from Price Chopper Pharmacy, where he worked in Oneida and Dewitt. He had also worked at P & C Pharmacy in Canastota. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed watching Fox News 24/7. He was a "Parrot Head" who loved Jimmy Buffett, always listening to his music. Every. Day. All. Day. Dan had attended many Jimmy Buffett concerts and stayed in multiple Margaritaville hotels. He wanted it written that "When I die, please don't let me vote Democrat!" He married Cynthia F. Wright on August 6, 1994, in Canastota. Surviving besides his wife, Cindy, are: one son, Andrew Kolceski, of Canastota; one daughter, Erin Kolceski, of Canastota; his beloved cats, Charlie and Gigi; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Deborah Kolceski, of Solvay, and Michael and Lisa Picciano of Canastota; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral mass will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at St. Agatha's Church, 329 N. Peterboro Street, Canastota. The Rev. Kevin Corcoran and Rev. Kevin Maloney will concelebrate the mass. There will be no formal calling hours, however, the family will greet friends following the mass in the Parish Center, where there will be a bereavement luncheon. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the mass.
