Obituary of Leta Louise Weisbrod

PERRYVILLE . . . Leta Louise Weisbrod, 99, of 5890 Quarry Road, Canastota, (Perryville) passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her home. She was born on May 8, 1925, in Bingley, in the Town of Fenner, the daughter of Delano and Hazel (Coleman) Bacon. Leta spent her early years in the Town of Fenner, and was a 1943 graduate of Cazenovia High School. She has lived in Perryville most of her life. She was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church. Leta worked with Gerald for a number of years, helping to manage their businesses. She did the accounting for the dairy farm, milling service, and the chicken farm. She designed the houses Gerald built and remodeled, also managing the accounting aspects of their construction endeavors. Later she enjoyed gardening, her flowers, quilting, sewing, and crocheting. She also enjoyed working with Gerald on his woodworking projects. Leta and Gerald enjoyed traveling to Europe, Puerto Rico, and throughout the United States. She married Gerald Weisbrod on June 16, 1944, in Chittenango. Gerald passed away on October 6, 2010. Surviving are: four sons and three daughters-in-law, Gerald, Jr. and Roberta Weisbrod of Perryville, Gene Weisbrod of Perryville, James and Denise Weisbrod of Perryville, and Jonathan and Evelyn Weisbrod of Perryville; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Edward Link of Perryville; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leta was predeceased by three brothers, Wesley Bacon, Francis Bacon, and Howard Bacon; and a sister, Ola Carlson. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. William M. Wilcox will officiate. Burial will be in Perryville Cemetery. At Leta's request, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Peterboro United Methodist Church, PO Box 90, Peterboro, NY, 13134.
