Lawrence W. "Larry" Wickham, 61, 4627 Whitman Road, Canastota, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 17, 1963, in Rome, NY, the son of the late Russell and Dorathy (Kinney) Wickham.
Larry spent his early years in Camden and Westdale, attending the Camden and Chittenango schools. He has lived in the Canastota area most of his life.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Larry worked for Owl Wire & Cable Company in Canastota for twenty-eight years, retiring in 2017. He had previously worked on the Dale Smith Farm in Clockville for seventeen years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, National Kennel Club, Ham Operators Club, and the CB Club.
Larry was an avid hunter and sportsman, who loved playing baseball, mowing his lawn, snowmobiling, four wheeling, trapping, fishing, farming, and spending time with his family.
He was married to the former Cheryl Brantis for twenty-eight years.
Surviving are: three daughters, Melissa Douglas-Wickham and David Layton of Middleburg, Emily Hopkins of Canastota, and Noel Ciani of Sylvan Beach; one son-in-law, Glen Marino of Oneida; one former son-in-law, Jeffery Douglas and Val Hess of West Monroe; one sister, Heidi A. Wickham of Oneida; nine grandchildren, Mason Douglas, Alexcia Douglas, Ardella Douglas, Autumn Marino Ross, Samantha Vanderworken, Ian Treadway, Ariana Treadway, Violet Cossitt, and Viktoria Cossitt; three nephews, Kenneth Frazer, Elvis Frazer, and Joshua Frazer; and many others that he thought of as nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by a daughter, Heather A. Wickham Marino, and a nephew, Michael Frazer.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, following the calling hours. The Rev. William M. Wilcox will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery.
