Obituary of Claborn R. "Bill" Dye

CANASTOTA . . . Claborn R. "Bill" Dye, 88, formerly of Canastota, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton, following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 3, 1936, in Swords Creek, VA, the son of the late Dewey and Rosanna (Peck) Dye. Bill spent his early years in Virginia, attending Honaker High School in Virginia. He lived in Canastota for many years, and recently lived in Oneida and Morrisville. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1957, and in the US Army Reserves from 1957-1962. Bill worked for Seneca Welding in Canastota for 27 years, retiring in 1997. He married Patricia J. (Miller) Nodine on December 23, 1972, in Wampsville. Pat passed away on June 28, 2007. Surviving are: two sons, Gary Dye of Virginia and Thomas Dye of Virginia; two step-sons, Jon and Rita Nodine of Canastota, and Joel and Kimberly Nodine of Canastota; three step-daughters, Alicia Lenhart of Verona, Candy and David McCormick of Canastota, and Lois Hoyt Nodine of Tully; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; one great grandson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by two brothers, Bundy Dye, and Pete Dye; and one sister, Betty Summner. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
