Obituary of Curtis L. "Buzz" Conklin

CAMDEN . . . Curtis L. "Buzz" Conklin, 75, of Camden, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at University Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness. He was born on October 28, 1949, in Canastota, the son of the late Curtis A. and Jean (Lee) Conklin. Buzz spent his early years in Canastota and Chittenango, graduating from Chittenango High School in 1968. He played football for Chittenango, and was inducted into the Chittenango High School Sports Hall of Fame. Buzz later graduated from Rome Copper City Institute of Technology in 1970, where he studied architecture. He has lived in Camden for the last 16 years. He served in the Army National Guard. Buzz worked for New Venture Gear in Syracuse for 32 years, retiring in 2003. He was also a partner in the family business, Robbie C's Car Clinic in Canastota for 10 years, retiring in 2008. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Mad River Club and the Bluff Hill Club. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, side by side and snowmobile, and spending time with his family. Buzz married JoAnne A. Tucciarone on November 11, 1971, in Syracuse. They celebrated 54 years of marriage. Surviving besides his wife, JoAnne, are: two sons, Robbie (Megan) Conklin of Canastota, and Kenny (Tammey) Conklin of Camden; two grandchildren, David (Kate) Conklin, and Nathan (Katie) Conklin; two great grandchildren, Caleb Conklin, and Mason Conklin; one brother, Douglas (Debbie) Conklin of Conway, SC; his beloved dog, Hank; as well as one niece; two nephews; several cousins, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future at a place, date, and time to be announced. At Buzz's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to the Mad River Club, PO Box 171, Pulaski, NY 13142.
