Olivia J. Cox, 48, of 311 Tuttle Avenue, Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 13, 2025, at her home.



She was born on August 12, 1976, in Oneida, the daughter of Philip E. Cox, Sr. and Sally (Wiediger) Cox.



Olivia has lived in Canastota all of her life, graduating from Canastota High School in 1994, where she played varsity basketball. She later graduated from SUNY Morrisville in 1996, with an Associate's Degree in Equine Science.



She worked as the manager of Crawford Race Horse Broodmare Farm in Canastota for 5 years, and later worked for UPS in Syracuse for 19 years, retiring in 2022, due to her health.



Olivia loved her two sons, her buddies at UPS, competitive horse show jumping, reading, baking, animal rescue, and anything with fur or feathers, especially her German Shepherds, Dante and Pandamonium, and the Pom, Bently, as well as spending time with her family. She was a gifted "Horse Whisperer", and was active in 4-H.



Surviving are: two Sons, Wilson Cortes, III of Rensselaer, and Logan Allen of Canastota; her mother, Sally Cox of Canastota; her step-mother, Susan Cox of Lee; her paternal step-grandmother, Elizabeth Cox of Sherrill; one sister and brother-in-law, Rebekah and Felix Tianga of Long Island; one sister-in-law, Sarah Cox of Canastota; as well as several beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and good friends, Morgan and Andy McAllister. Olivia was predeceased by her father, Philip E. Cox, Sr. on July 2, 2020; her brother, Philip E. Cox, Jr. on June 8, 2021; her grandmother, Marilyn Jordan on September 2, 2021; her great grandmother, Harriet Marsh on April 30, 2000; and her uncle, Nathan Cox on June 29, 2013.



Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A service will be held at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota.
