CANASTOTA . . . Heidi A. Baldwin, 53, of Canastota, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 4, 1971, in Ellenville, NY, the daughter of Robert A. Baldwin, Jr. and Linda (Caruso) Baldwin. Heidi spent her early years in Canastota, graduating from Canastota High School in 1989, later graduating from Herkimer County Community College in 1991, Utica College of Syracuse University in 1994, and Syracuse University in 2004, with a master's degree in special education. She later lived in Manlius for many years and in Cazenovia for the last few months. She worked as a special education teacher for the Madison Central School District from 2005-2011. Heidi was the assistant general manager of the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park for 22 years. She was a Reiki Master, and had her own business, Heal with Heidi, with offices in the area for 10 years, and was the practice manager for Integrative Medicine of CNY in Chittenango for 5 years. Heidi was a Girl Scout when she was younger, and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a member of the Silver Star Chapter #21, Order of the Eastern Star in Oneida, Fidelity Assembly #30 Advisor, NYS International Order of Rainbow for Girls, and the Gamma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She enjoyed gardening, her fur babies, Sage, Gaia, and Zen, bird watching, camping, kayaking, canoeing, and spending time with her family. Surviving are: her mother, Linda Baldwin of Canastota; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Heather and Jeffrey Olden of Mechanicsville, VA, and Holly and Thomas Rahmer of Rome; nieces and nephews, Jacob and Keira Fleming, Lily Fleming, Kayla Olden, and Tyler Olden; a great niece, Audrey Fleming; her aunt and uncle and God parents, Rickey and Piper Caruso of Kerhonkson, NY; great aunt, Catherine "Kay" Hull of Wurtsboro, NY; cousins, Todd Oliver, James Oliver, Matthew Oliver, and Lisa Klem; and numerous second cousins. Heidi was predeceased by her father, grandparents, and a cousin, Olivia Caruso. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., immediately followed by an Eastern Star service and funeral service. Spring burial will be in Mohawk Cemetery. In her memory, contributions may be made to Rainbow Charities of NY, Inc. (for the Richard H. & Emily F. Myer Scholarship Fund), c/o Nancy Moretti, PO Box 204, Philmont, NY 12565, or to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
