CANASTOTA . . .
Roy A. Poppleton, 58, of Canastota, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Colonial Park Nursing Home, Rome, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 1, 1959, in Canastota, a son of Neil W. and Elsie (Button) Poppleton.
Roy is a life-long resident of Canastota, attending the Canastota schools.
He worked for Mohawk Masonry in Canastota when he was younger.
Roy enjoyed building model cars, repairing electronics, camping, fishing, music, cars, and spending time with his family.
He married Jodi L. Seitz on December 2, 1978, in Wampsville.
Surviving besides his wife, Jodi, are: two sons, Roy A. "Hooter" Poppleton, II, and Bradley J. Poppleton, both of Canastota; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Paul Pylman, Jr., of Morrisville; his parents, Neil and Elsie Poppleton of Canastota; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Neil W. Poppleton, II, and Richard and Diane Poppleton, all of Canastota; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Donald Morris, and Sally and William Zielasko, all of Canastota; two grandchildren, Abigail Pylman, and Paul Pylman, III; as well as a nieces, several nephews, and many cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, at the funeral home. Pastor Donna Chapman of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery, Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons Street, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
