ONEIDA . . . Floyd E. Snyder, Jr., 88, formerly of Baldwinsville and Oneida, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford, following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 7, 1930, in Carlisle, NY, the son of the late Floyd, Sr., and Irene (Runkle) Snyder. Floyd spent his early years in Grovers Corners and Cobleskill, graduating from Cobleskill High School in 1947. In 1951, he graduated from Union College in Schenectady, with a degree in Civil Engineering. Floyd lived in Oneida for many years, and in Baldwinsville for three years. He is a Korean War Veteran, serving as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Floyd was a Division Engineer for the New York State Thruway in Syracuse for 35 years, and also ran his own business, Snyder Engineering and Surveying in Oneida and Vernon for many years, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed working on his yard, taking care of his home, building things, and spending time with his family. Floyd married Kathleen A. O'Connor on November 28, 1992, in Camillus. Kathy passed away on June 20, 2018. Surviving are: four sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kathy Snyder of Albany, Bruce and Susan Snyder of Caroga Lake, NY, Geoffrey and Maureen Snyder of Oneida, and James and Cindy Snyder of Oneida; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Dennis Baroudi of Oneida; one sister, Phyllis Griffith of Yukon, OK; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. At Floyd's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
