Obituary of Daren L. Phillips

EAST SYRACUSE . . .

Daren L. Phillips, 51, of East Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, after suffering an apparent heart attack at work.

He was born on April 19, 1968, in Oneida, the son of Charles W. Sr. and Lelah M. (DeKing) Phillips.

Daren lived in Cazenovia most of his life, attending the Cazenovia schools.

He has worked for Action Topsoil in Minoa for the last 1 ½ years.

Daren enjoyed mechanic work, playing with his Rocky, and spending time with his family.

He married Maria A. Anderson on June 21, 2014, in Canastota.

Surviving besides his wife, Maria, are: two daughters, Kimberly Hart, and Kylee Hart, both of Cortland; his mother, Lelah Phillips of Canastota; two grandchildren, Nolan Hart, and Savanah Hart; five brothers, Charles W. Phillips, Jr, and Renee Schanbacher of Kirkville, David Phillips of Sheds, John and Ginger Phillips of Canastota, Robert and Becky Phillips of Cazenovia, and William and Amber Phillips of Fenner; three sisters, Tammie Phillips of Canastota, Carrie and Douglass Cordell of DeRuyter, and Jennifer and Jason Dyer of Chittenango; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Daren was predeceased by his father, Charles W. Phillips, Sr., in 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. The Rev. William M. Wilcox, Pastor of the Fyler Community Church, will officiate. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, prior to the funeral, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
