CANASTOTA . . .

Grace A. Sgroi, 92, of Canastota, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2018, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness

She was born on September 12, 1925, in Little Falls, the daughter of Angelo and Hazel (Boh) Scirocco.

Grace spent her early years in Little Falls, attending the Little Falls schools. She has lived in Canastota since 1947.

She was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota.

Grace enjoyed knitting, baking cookies, and spending time with her friends and family.

She married James A. Sgroi on October 12, 1947 in Little Falls, NY. Jim passed away on October 6, 2005.

Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Susan Sgroi of Syracuse; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Anthony Pulverenti of Canastota, Janice and Ralph Guida of Liverpool, and Marie and Stephen Arena of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; seven grandchildren, James (Robin) Pulverenti, Elizabeth Butler, Jeffrey (Lisa) Guida, Mark Guida and companion, Ryann, Michael (Jessica) Arena, Sage Sgroi, and Addison Sgroi; seven great grandchildren, Kayla, Hailey, Justin, and Marisa Guida, Carson and Callie Arena, and Alexander Butler; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Cerio, and Theresa Scirocco; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace was predeceased by two sisters, Josephine Finocchiaro, and Julia LeGrand; and a brother Michael Scirocco.

At Grace's request, private calling hours and funeral service will be held at the convenience of her family. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In Grace's memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908, or to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032.
