To the family of Alan, I just learned of Alan’s passing and am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Alan at the AAMA. I was the CFO when he was on the Board Of Directors. Alan and I stayed in touch after the closing of the organization. He sent me several pictures of him and Kathy as Mr and Mrs Santa. He was so proud of this work. He will be surely be missed. I just heard of Alan’s death. My sincere condolences go out to each of his family members. I had the opportunity to meet him when I enrolled in a genealogy class he was teaching at the Mint Hill branch of the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County. I couldn’t have had a more interesting or more interested person as an instructor. His ease & joy of teaching students created a wonderful, enjoyable atmosphere. He often began each session with a rope trick & a personal story from his family history. I kept up with him by email on occasion as he was willing to answer questions or point me in the right direction. I’m very grateful for his sharing his tremendous knowledge & love of genealogy. It has allowed me to begin a lifelong learning experience. Thank you for sharing amazing, brilliant Alan with others. He will surely be missed.
