My classmate, Joe, I grew to know on a deeply personal level over the last several years. He generously showered me with gifts including those of time and advice. The most special of all was his enthusiasm. Joe, in many respects, became my life coach for both physical and mental health. I can hear his encouraging words, "Barb, you can climb to the top of Tuttle Ave, one house at a time!" And, repeatedly, I did. Yes, Joe, we are in our 4th quarter now, but what a game. You made life that much more exciting and worthwhile. I'll miss our football bets for dinners and every Christmas, that carefully selected bottle of wine placed on my front step. But most of all, I'll miss our conversations and weekly texts. You are missed, my friend.

I worked for Joe and Dom at the golf course but occasionally would go to the Luna to help out ( really mostly to see the old crew from Grimaldis that somehow all ended up there lol ) joe was a good guy in every aspect of the word.
My condolences to his family.

I met Joe working at Oneida Printshop when he owned Bella Luna. He always came in with a smile on his face and joke or story to tell. I always looked forward to working with him. I was saddened to hear of his passing he was full of so much life. My thoughts are with his family.

Joe was a beloved customer of mine that I met through working at Oneida Office Supply. He was always coming up with ideas and ways to help youth through his words of wisdom. It was an honor knowing Joe and I am so saddened by news of his passing. My condolences to his family. - Stacy Jones

My dad was the electrician that worked at Sutter's and the Sugar Mill. In fact, the light fixtures that were first purchased for the Sugar Mill were there decades after they closed the Sugar Mill (when other restaurants took over the space). I worked with my dad in the summers and Joe was always around. He was a good man, and cared for those around him. He was passionate about football, and I am saddened to see that he has passed.
May his memory be a blessing.

I graduated from Canastota HS with Joe in 1971. We were on the football team together and lost only 1 game our senior year. I can still see Joe weeping back to the bus after that game, being so heartbroken that we wouldn't have an undefeated season. We were all hurting after that loss. Thankfully he was able to experience an undefeated season while at Albany State. Joe was the unofficial team leader in Canastota football and cheerleader, motivating us to do our best. He was also the biggest guy on the team. With his great sense of humor he always got us laughing. Joe was greatly loved and will be missed.

I am sooo sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was one of the old gang. He was passionate in his community, he was true to his friends, and will be missed dearly by anyone who ever had the chance to know him. Even in his declining years, when my husband passed away, he sent his sister to personally give his condolences to me, because he was unable to be there himself. That's how much he cared about the people who touched him in his life!
